A non-league goalkeeper boasts more than 4.3million TikTok followers.
Alexis Andre plies his trade with National League side Maidenhead United. The Moroccan goalkeeper has made 10 league appearances for his side so far this season, conceding 10 goals and keeping just three clean sheets.
However, having failed to make the squad in any of their first 16 matches this term, Andre has now started eight of the last nine matches for the Magpies. And while his career is just starting to take off, he’s already one of the most engaged with footballers in the country, due to his gigantic social media reach.
Andre has reaped the rewards from the Chinese social media channel, which is characterised by the sharing of short and snappy videos that can be complemented with filters and other whacky features.
He has provided his millions of admirers and fans with behind the scenes clips of his daily football routine, interactions with teammates and some short clips of him playing for Maidenhead.
While the Frenchman does interact with fans on Twitter and social media, his numbers do not compare to those on his TikTok. He commands a respectable but modest 2209 Twitter followers.
While many non-league players would be happy with that kind of engagement, it’s a galaxy away from the 168m likes he has amassed on TikTok. A fraction of his TikTok universe also keep up to date with his career on Instagram with more than 512,000 people following him.
It may have been this incredible social media empire that saw him become a model for London based agency ‘Select Model London’. Andre’s first few posts include a shirtless, black and white video from a recent shoot and one of himself flexing his biceps, while wearing a black tank top.
Aside from a pinned upload featuring the highlights of one of his best ever performances, you need to scroll down to his eighth most recent picture to find one of him playing for Maidenhead. Now he appears to be the first choice shot-stopper for the National League side, his already humongous social media community could be about to become even bigger.
