A BUDGET chef has revealed her ultimate lunch recipe which costs just £5 for five portions.
Social media personality Beat The Budget said the dish is ideal for prepping a week of lunches.
She said: “One of my favourite meal prep lunches.
“It’s so filling, it’s freezable and sooo delicious.”
Beat The Budget’s frontwoman showed herself cooking the dish and gave her viewers a run down of the price of each item.
The total food shop, which consisted of things from ASDA’s new Just Essentials range, cost just £5.63.
She started by chopping up an onion and bulb of garlic before frying them in a pan with oil and some chilli flakes.
A single and weighed onion cost 10p at ASDA, while the garlic cost 39p.
The next step was grating some 50p ginger into the pan and seasoning it with cumin.
The Tik Tok chef added dried lentils to the pan which cost £1.35 and filled the pan with stock.
Those without stock can just use boiling water.
The next step was to garnish the dish with coriander – which costs 50p for a bag – and simmer for a little bit.
She then poured in a bag of £1 spinach and 85p tin of coconut milk.
The dish was simmered with the lid on until everything was soft enough to blend together with a hand blender.
Finally, she poured a 41p tin of chickpeas in and cooked up some boiled rice to go with the dish at 48p.
The bulk meal was distributed between five bits of tupperware.
The viral Tik Tok has now totted up almost 170,000 views.
People commented that it “looks so good” and “yummy”.
One viewer asked: “Are those tinned lentils?
“Or dry but soaked? Looks amazing.”
The social media chef replied: “They’re dried but rinsed a little!
“Thanks so much.”
