Two years ago, Jake Paul got into an altercation in the buildup to Floyd Mayweather’s exhibition fight against his brother Logan. The two went their separate ways after, with no follow-up.
However, it appears that Mayweather never forgets.
A video released by TMZ Sports shows Mayweather confronting Paul following a Miami Heat game on Wednesday, March 9. Mayweather, who had a large entourage in his corner, surrounded Paul. The cameraman questioned Paul’s toughness following his loss to Tommy Fury. At one point, he asked Mayweather and the rest of his team, “Are we going to bust him up, guys?”
Paul later runs from Mayweather and his team. Paul called out Mayweather on Twitter following the exchange before the video was released.

Hat incident that sparked Jake Paul vs. Floyd Mayweather rivalry
As mentioned above, Mayweather and Logan Paul competed in a boxing bout back in 2021. The fight went the distance and was a non-scored affair.
The rivalry with Jake picked up steam a few days before when Jake snatched Mayweather’s hat right off his head following a press conference.
The result was a brawl between both camps, as Mayweather was visibly upset, threatening Paul. There was no mention of the incident after. However, Jake did end up getting a “gotcha hat” tattoo.
Someone from Mayweather’s team spoke to TMZ, claiming that Mayweather was not waiting for Paul. The incident stems from a comment Paul appeared to make about a diseased family member of Mayweather’s.

Did Jake Paul fight Floyd Mayweather?
Although his brother Logan fought Mayweather back in 2021, Jake has yet to enter the ring with Mayweather.
If Jake were to touch gloves with Mayweather, it would mark a significant step up as he’s coming off his first fight against a real boxer in Tommy Fury. Whereas Fury entered with eight professional bouts to his name, Mayweather went 50-0 in his professional career and 38-6 as an amateur. That’s in addition to the slew of exhibition fights since retiring as a pro.
Jake Paul ‘jumped’ incident with Floyd Mayweather
Paul took to Instagram Live to explain what happened.
“So, I’m leaving the Miami Heat game, and Floyd Mayweather and 50 dudes pull up out of nowhere, out of like some side alley, waiting for me outside the stadium, and they’re like, ‘So what’s up? So what’s all that talk now?

“I’m like, first of all, what did I say to you, Floyd? I just took your hat, and you’re still mad about it? Come on, bro. And then 50 dudes literally start surrounding me to try and jump me, and I’m out that b—-, OK? You want to run it one on one, no problem. But I’m not dumb. I’m tough. I don’t need to prove my toughness, but I’m not f—— dumb. I’m not going to sit there and try to fight 50 dudes… You’re mad because I took your f—— hat. Are you serious? Get over it, bro. Move on.”
Mayweather has not posted anything on social media regarding the incident.
Will Jake Paul fight Floyd Mayweather?
Reactions around the internet have ranged from defending Paul to believing it was an act. The latter half is under the impression the two will fight.
Paul did challenge Mayweather after, claiming there have been attempts when it comes to a fight.
Floyd will not see me 1 on 1 in a real fight. That’s a fact. His team has hit my team numerous times to do one of his “exhibitions”. Now he ambushes me 🤣. Come see me in the ring, real fight, no exhibition robbing fans bullshit.

Losing to Tommy Fury in February via split decision, Paul fought a legitimate boxer for the first time. He did knock Fury down in the final round, but it wasn’t enough. A rematch has been discussed.

Since retiring 50-0 in 2017, Mayweather has competed in numerous exhibition bouts. While not all have been sellouts, including his recent fight against Aaron Chalmers in London, he has gotten paid. Mayweather stated his plan for 2023, which includes five bouts.
“This is what my 2023 looks like so far,” Mayweather said on Instagram, “Five exhibitions in five countries in nine months. And if any of these exhibitions don’t happen, I still get paid. I’m the most active hustler in boxing, my money is guaranteed.”
