Top PGA Tour talent has descended upon TPC Sawgrass for the 2023 Players Championship. Last year’s tournament was packed with thrills, and in the end Cameron Smith held off Anirban Lahiri by a stroke to capture the prestigious title.
Smith may be there again this weekend, just not as a participant. He moved to LIV Golf last year and was summarily suspended from the PGA Tour. And he wasn’t the only one: Lahiri, Paul Casey and Harold Varner III all switched allegiances, as did Dustin Johnson, who shot a course-record 63 in his swan song at Sawgrass.

All of that is to say, the field will have a bit of new look this year around Tour stalwarts Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm and others.
